I thought the light was green…the other driver said it was red.
“BOOM!” said the Fed-Ex 18-wheeler as he slammed into my car today.
As we emerged from our vehicles to inspect the damage, I was dumb-founded. There was barely a scratch on my car. No back panel on the ground, no broken taillights, no massive dent, just a couple of tiny white marks. What? But upon impact, I immediately thought, “There goes the back end of my car.” I know what I heard when that massive Semi hit me…and I know what I felt.
It took me an hour before I realized what had happened. “Let me hear your voice today, Abba.” That was my prayer just prior to getting into my car this morning.
In our TOL time together a few weeks ago, we all shared about our experiences with prayer…a wonderful time of intimate sharing. But today I realized truly, how Abba can respond to a prayer, and a simple one at that.
“It could have been a lot worse,” said the Fed-Ex driver. So true. A fraction of a second could have rendered things quite differently. So, I started there with God, thanking Him for my “very present help in times of trouble.” But it was afterward that I recalled my little prayer: “Father, let me hear your voice today.” It was then that He began whispering to my heart about His presence, and His constancy in that. His voice, that I asked to hear came in a “BOOM,” followed by whispers.
“I am always with you, I am always present, even in ways you may not expect. I am here Mark…recognize that.”
He did say one more thing to me.
“You’re a little loose with your driving…start paying better attention.” HA! It’s so true, I am a terribly distracted driver. I had both hands on the wheel as I drove home.
Seek Him earnestly and you will find Him…but remember that the search isn’t about distance. It’s about our recognition of His constant abiding in us. How will He speak to you tonight or tomorrow? Try not to predict how His voice will come!

What a great testimony! Yes...His whispers are sometimes booming! I had a very similar experience a few years back while we were still Sh'ma Yisrael. I was driving down I-75 south just north of Route 35 headed toward home after our Saturday service. I had a "sister" with me as I was transporting her to a home where she was housesitting for the week.
As we neared Route 35, I looked in my sideview mirror and saw a semi with his turn signal on barreling down on me and inching over to enter the lane in front of me. We both started praying, "Yeshua, help us!" Right before my eyes I saw the tractor-trailer PASS THROUGH the front end o…
